Some basic ways people get spam
1. Giving their email address out on the web.
2. They have easy to find mail aliases (sally@domain.com, 123@domain.com)
3. They reply to received spam (either by replying with "stop", or using the "remove me" link in the message)
4. They use HTML Supported Email clients, like Outlook..etc, and open HTML email. These email messages contain tracking links, so that the spammer will know if a message has been viewed (not even replied or forwarded, just opened.)
5. Spammers sell their lists to other spammers.
